Several accounts on one platform

Primary accounts, switching, and choosing the account for one post.

Primary and not primary

When a publication has more than one account on the same platform, one is marked Primary in Settings → Channels. Posts go there unless you choose otherwise. The others show Not primary: they’re connected and working, just not the default.

An account that needs signing in again shows Reconnect needed instead, with a Reconnect button. Posts don’t go to it until it’s reconnected.

If the primary account is the one that needs reconnecting, Karrow uses the oldest working account on that platform until you fix it, and that account shows Primary in the meantime.

For example, a publication might have its brand’s X account as Primary and the editor’s own X account as Not primary. Most posts go out from the brand account, and the editor’s account is there for the posts that should come from a person. If the editor’s account should be the default for a while, click Switch account on it, and switch back the same way.

How do I add a second account on the same platform?

Click Add another X account (with the platform’s name) under that platform’s accounts in Settings → Channels, then sign in to the other account. The new account joins the list as Not primary, so your existing default doesn’t change.

Accounts belong to a publication. If you run several newsletters, each one has its own accounts and its own primary account on each platform.

How do I change which account Karrow posts to by default?

Click Switch account on the account you want as the default. It takes effect instantly, with no signing in again. The account you switched to becomes Primary, and the old one shows Not primary.

Switch account only appears on accounts that are Not primary. An account that shows Reconnect needed has to be reconnected before it can become the default.

Switching only changes where new posts go. A post that’s already scheduled keeps the account it was scheduled from. To move it, cancel it, pick the account, and schedule it again.

Can I post from a different account for just one post?

Yes: when a platform has two or more accounts, drafts show a Select account picker, and the account you pick there is used for that post only. The default is marked “(default)”. When a platform has only one account, the picker doesn’t appear.

The choice is saved with the draft, so you can pick the account while you write and schedule later. Once the post is scheduled, its account is locked along with its text.

If the account a post was set to stops working, Karrow falls back to the primary account when you schedule.

Which account will my post go out from?

The one shown in the draft’s Select account picker: the account you picked for that post, or the default if you didn’t pick one. When the platform has only one working account, it’s that one.

The picker always shows the account that will really be used. If the account you saved on a draft has since been disconnected, the picker shows the primary account instead.

Check it before you schedule. The account is fixed at the moment you schedule, and changing the default afterwards doesn’t move posts that are already scheduled.

Why don’t I see the Select account picker?

Because the publication has only one working account on that platform. The picker appears in the editor, under the post text, once a second account is connected and working.

Accounts that show Reconnect needed aren’t offered in the picker. Reconnect them in Settings → Channels and they come back. A post that has already been scheduled doesn’t show the picker either, because its account is locked.

Pages and company pages

Some platforms have a second choice inside one account. If your Facebook account manages more than one Page, drafts show Post to Page so you can choose which Page the post goes to. Until you choose, Karrow fills in the Page the account suggests as its default.

If your LinkedIn account manages a company page, drafts show Post as. Leave it on Personal profile to post as yourself, or pick the company page. Both choices are per post, like Select account.

What happens if an account stops working?

When you schedule, Karrow uses the account you picked for the post if it’s still connected. If it isn’t, Karrow uses the primary account for that platform instead. If the publication has no working account on that platform at all, you’ll see “Connect X to schedule this post.” with a button to connect one.

To stop an account posting altogether, click Disconnect on it in Settings → Channels and confirm. You can connect it again at any time. If you disconnect the primary account, the oldest remaining account on that platform becomes Primary.

Does a second account cost extra?

No: Karrow Pro is priced per publication, with every channel included, so adding a second account on a platform doesn’t change what you pay. Connecting accounts, drafting, and picking accounts per post all work on the Free plan; scheduling and posting need Pro.
