Can’t add a second account on the same platform
Why the same account comes back, and the log-out-first fix.
Why does the same account keep coming back?
The same account comes back because the platform signs you in with whichever account your browser is already logged into. X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Threads, and Reddit don’t offer a way to pick a different account at that moment.
So if you’re logged into your first account, connecting again just re-approves that same account. Nothing new is added, and nothing breaks.
When that happens, Karrow tells you, for example: “You’re already connected to X in this browser. Log out of X first, then try again.” An Open X link next to it takes you to the platform.
How do I add a second account on the same platform?
Log out of the first account on the platform, then connect again from Karrow and sign in with the second one.
- 1Open the publication’s Channels tab, or Settings → Channels, and click Add another (platform) account under the accounts you already have.
- 2The connect window says “Adding a new account needs you to log out of the (platform) account that’s currently logged in first.” Click Open (platform) to log out. It opens the platform in a new tab.
- 3Log out of your current account there.
- 4Come back to Karrow and click Add another account. Sign in with the second account when the platform asks.
- 5When it lands, you’ll see “Your (platform) account is connected.” and the new account appears as its own row under the first.
A private or incognito window also works: log in to Karrow and to the second account there, then connect from Karrow in that same window.
Which account will my posts go out from?
Posts go out from the account marked Primary, unless you pick a different one on the post itself.
The first account you connected on a platform is Primary by default. To change it, click Switch account on the other account’s row. Nothing is disconnected or signed out; it only changes which account new posts use.
With two or more working accounts on a platform, the editor shows a Select account picker for that post, with the Primary account marked “(default)”. Choosing an account there only affects that one post.
If the account a post was set to use is disconnected later, the post uses the Primary account when you schedule it. Check the Select account picker before you schedule if that matters.
Can one publication have several accounts on a platform?
Yes. A publication can have more than one account on the same platform, for example a personal X account and a brand one.
Each account is its own row on the publication’s Channels tab and in Settings → Channels, with its own badge and its own Reconnect, Switch account, and Disconnect buttons.
Pricing is per publication with every channel included, so adding a second account doesn’t change what you pay.
Channels belong to a publication. If you run two publications, connect each one’s accounts from its own Channels tab. An account connected to one publication isn’t shared with the other.
An example with two LinkedIn profiles
A hypothetical example: your publication posts from your own LinkedIn profile, and you want to add your co-writer’s profile too. Your browser is logged into LinkedIn as you.
You click Add another LinkedIn account, then Open LinkedIn to log out, and log out of your profile in that tab. Your co-writer signs in to LinkedIn in that browser, you click Add another account, and they approve. Their profile appears as a second row, marked Not primary.
Your posts keep going out from your profile. For a post your co-writer wrote, pick their profile in Select account before you schedule it. If they’ll post most of the time, click Switch account on their row to make theirs Primary.
If you later disconnect the Primary account, the earliest-connected account that’s left becomes Primary.
Pages and company pages are picked per post
A Facebook Page or a LinkedIn company page isn’t a second account, so you don’t need the log-out steps for it.
For Facebook, the editor shows Post to Page, listing the Pages your connected account manages. For LinkedIn, it shows Post as, with Personal profile or the company pages you admin.
If a Page or company page is missing from the list, check on the platform that your connected account manages it.
Still getting the first account?
Make sure you logged out in the same browser you use for Karrow. Logging out on your phone, or in another browser, doesn’t change which account this browser signs in with.
If you see “We couldn’t start connecting (platform). Try again.”, the connect window didn’t start. Wait a moment and click the button again.
If the button reads “Waiting for (platform)…”, the platform’s sign-in window is still open, possibly behind this one. Finish signing in there; Karrow picks the account up when you’re done.
If the right account still won’t connect, contact us from the support page and say which platform and handle you’re trying to add.
