Connect your social channels

Authorize X, LinkedIn, Threads, Facebook, and Reddit to post.

How channels work

A channel is a social account Karrow can post to. Channels belong to a publication, so each newsletter keeps its own set. You sign in on each platform’s own page, so Karrow never sees your social passwords.

You need a connected publication before you can add channels. Until you have one, Settings → Channels shows “Connect a publication first”. After that, each card on the Publications page shows the channels that publication posts to.

Connecting channels is free. Scheduling and publishing need Karrow Pro, which is priced per publication with all five channels included, so adding a channel never changes your bill.

Connect a channel

  1. 1Open Settings → Channels and click Connect beside the publication that should post. Or open the publication itself and use its Channels tab, where the button is Connect a channel.
  2. 2In the “Connect a channel” window, choose a platform.
  3. 3Click Continue to that platform. Its sign-in page opens in a new window, and Karrow shows “Finish connecting in the … window” while you’re there.
  4. 4Sign in and authorize Karrow’s publishing partner to post for you.
  5. 5The window closes on its own and Karrow shows that your account is connected. You stay on the page you started from.

Nothing posts until you schedule it or press Post now. Connecting a channel only gives Karrow permission to post when you ask.

Which accounts can I connect on each platform?

X, Threads, and Reddit connect a profile, Facebook connects a Page, and LinkedIn can post as your profile or as a Page.

On Facebook, you sign in with your own Facebook login and Karrow posts to a Page you manage. If that login manages more than one Page, each Facebook draft gets a Post to Page picker so you choose which one.

On LinkedIn, you connect your personal profile. If that profile is an admin of a company Page, LinkedIn drafts show a Post as picker with Personal profile and the Page. With no Page, posts go out as you.

If your browser blocks the sign-in window, Karrow opens the platform in the same tab instead and brings you back to the page you started from when you finish.

Can I connect two accounts on the same platform?

Yes: click Add another X account (or LinkedIn, and so on) below a platform to connect a second one, for example a personal profile and a brand profile.

Platforms sign you in with whichever account your browser is already logged into, and none of them offer a way to pick a different one. To add a different account, first log out of the current one on that platform (the connect window offers an “Open … to log out” button), then connect again.

If you skip that step, the platform hands back the account you already have. Karrow tells you: “You’re already connected to … in this browser. Log out of … first, then try again.”

Choose which account posts

When a platform has several accounts, one is marked Primary: that is where posts go by default. The others say Not primary. Click Switch account on another to make it the primary one. It takes effect instantly and nothing is disconnected.

In a draft you can also pick the account for that one post. The Select account picker only appears when a platform has two or more accounts, and marks the primary one “(default)”. If the account you picked is later disconnected, the post goes out on the primary account instead.

You can’t switch to an account that needs reconnecting. Reconnect it first, then switch.

What should I know before connecting Reddit?

Reddit has its own posting rules, and breaking them can get an account banned or quietly shadowbanned without any notice from Reddit. The first time you connect a Reddit account, Karrow shows these rules once:

  1. 1Don’t post the same text to several subreddits in a day.
  2. 2Leave at least 2 days between posts to one subreddit.
  3. 3Use full links, not shorteners like bit.ly.
  4. 4Read each subreddit’s rules before you post.

Karrow warns you before a post breaks one of these. Each Reddit draft also asks for a Subreddit, and offers a Flair where the subreddit has them and a Mark as NSFW switch.

Why does my channel say Reconnect needed?

Reconnect needed means the platform stopped accepting Karrow’s access, usually because the login expired, the password changed, or access was revoked on the platform. Click Reconnect and sign in again.

Karrow also checks your connected accounts with its publishing partner once a day. An account the partner no longer holds is marked Reconnect needed too, so the list doesn’t show an account that can’t post.

Reconnect signs in with whichever account your browser is logged into on that platform, so make sure it’s the same account before you click.

Click Disconnect to stop an account posting. Karrow asks you to confirm first, and you can connect it again at any time.

Disconnecting a newsletter in Settings → API keys also removes every channel connected to its publications, so you’d connect them again if you bring that newsletter back.
