Your first week with Karrow
A simple checklist from signing up to your first week of posts.
Day 1: connect
The first time you sign in, Karrow opens a five-step tutorial, Set up your first post. You can skip it and watch it again any time with Replay in Settings → General.
Your Dashboard also has a Getting started card that ticks off four steps as you do them: Connect a publication, Review your first posts, Connect a channel, and Schedule your first post.
- 1Connect your newsletter from Publications → Connect. Karrow starts importing your recent issues in the background.
- 2Connect the channels you post to from Settings → Channels. You sign in on each platform’s own page, then come back to Karrow.
- 3If you run more than one newsletter, connect each one now. Each gets its own voice and its own channels.
Start with the one or two channels you already use most. You can add the rest any time.
Which issues does Karrow import when I connect?
Karrow imports your 12 most recent published issues when you connect, then checks for new ones every 15 minutes. While the first import runs, Settings → API keys shows importing… next to the publication.
Twelve issues is enough for Karrow to learn how you write; each time it drafts, it reads your five most recent issues besides the one you picked. Older issues aren’t pulled in at the start, so if you want to draft from something further back, check the publication’s Issues tab first.
If the key stops working, the connection shows Reconnect needed. Paste a fresh key with Update key and importing picks up again.
Day 2: your first batch
- 1Click New post and pick your latest issue.
- 2Choose your channels. Under AI options per channel, set how many options you want for each (three is the default).
- 3Click the Draft button, which shows the total across your channels, like Draft 12 options. If you’d rather start from a blank page, choose Write by hand instead.
- 4Read them side by side. Keep the ones that sound like you, edit the ones that are close, and delete the rest.
- 5To fix one line, select it and pick Shorten, Add hook, Punch it up, or Fix grammar, or type the change you want.
- 6If a whole channel misses, click Regenerate for a fresh set. It replaces that channel’s unscheduled AI drafts and leaves anything you wrote by hand.
The free plan allows 20 AI drafts a day. Three options on four channels is 12, which leaves room to regenerate a channel that missed.
Day 3: plan the week
- 1Open Posts and switch to Week view.
- 2Drag your drafts from the Unscheduled tray onto different days, so the week doesn’t start and end with everything at once.
- 3Or open a draft and pick a date and time. Times are shown in your own timezone, and you can’t pick a time that has already passed.
- 4Check each post once more before you schedule it: scheduling is your approval.
Use Month view to see several weeks at once, or List to see every post with its status. Both use the same posts, so pick whichever suits you.
Do I have to pay before my first post goes out?
Yes. Scheduling and Post now are the paid step; everything before them is free. When you try to schedule on the free plan, Karrow asks you to upgrade and your drafts stay exactly where they are.
Pro is $59 per publication a month, or $590 per publication a year if you pay annually. You only pay for publications, so connecting a fifth channel costs nothing extra.
If Karrow isn’t right for you, email us within 7 days of your first payment for a full refund. Your plan, invoices, and Manage billing all live in Settings → Billing.
Day 4 onwards: tune your voice
Open the publication’s Voice tab and add a rule or two per channel if something keeps coming out wrong, like “never open with a question”. Karrow also picks up your taste from what you keep and edit.
Give it a few rounds. Karrow updates its notes about your tone after every three drafts you schedule or discard on a channel, so one edited post won’t change much on its own.
What happens when my next issue comes out?
Karrow imports it within about 15 minutes of publishing, often sooner, and can email you that it’s ready. It doesn’t draft posts by itself; you start the next batch when it suits you.
The email is New-issue alerts in Settings → Notifications. Turn it off there if you’d rather check in on your own schedule.
The alert only goes out for issues published in the last 48 hours, so connecting a newsletter never sends you a pile of emails about old issues.
End of the week: check the numbers
Open Analytics to see which posts and channels landed. Your top posts are a good starting point for next week’s batch.
Analytics covers X, LinkedIn, Threads, and Facebook; Reddit doesn’t share post numbers with apps like Karrow. Numbers aren’t real-time: Karrow refreshes them when you open the page and they’re more than 12 hours old, and every day in the background for 45 days after a post goes out.
