Why didn’t my post publish?
Find a failed post, read the reason, and send it again.
How do I know a post failed?
A post that a platform turned down is marked Failed, and the bell at the top of the app lists it under Needs attention, for example “1 post failed to publish”, with Review failures underneath. The Dashboard’s Needs attention card shows the same line.
Failed is final for that attempt. Karrow doesn’t retry a failed post by itself, so nothing goes out twice by surprise, and the post stays Failed until you act on it.
The bell only covers posts that were scheduled and then turned down at publish time. A problem Karrow catches before anything is scheduled shows up next to the post instead, as a “Won’t post yet” message. That case is covered further down.
Where do I see why it failed?
The reason is in the post’s drawer: open the failed post and the reason the platform gave is shown in red under the preview.
- 1Click Review failures in the bell, or open Posts from the sidebar.
- 2Set the Status filter to Failed. The number next to it is how many failed posts match your channel and publication filters.
- 3Click the post. The drawer shows the post as it would look on the platform, with the reason underneath, when the platform gives one.
Some platforms turn a post down without saying why. If the drawer shows no reason, check the channel in Settings → Channels first, then the post’s length and attachments against the limits below.
What are the common reasons a post fails?
The most common reason is a channel login that expired or was revoked. The account then shows Reconnect needed in Settings → Channels and on the publication’s Channels tab, and posts on it can fail until you reconnect.
Something in the post isn’t allowed on that platform: too long, a file too large, or a media type it doesn’t accept. Karrow checks each post with the platform’s rules before scheduling, but if that check can’t be reached, Karrow schedules the post anyway, and the platform can still turn it down at publish time.
For Reddit, the subreddit’s own rules: it may require flair, limit who can post, or accept only approved posters. Karrow stops a post to a private subreddit before scheduling, but a restricted one goes through, and Reddit decides at publish time.
If a platform reports only a partial success, Karrow marks the post Failed rather than Posted, so you can check it yourself.
What are the length and file limits on each platform?
Each platform caps text length, the number of images, and file size, and the editor follows these limits:
X: 280 characters per post in a thread, up to 4 images of 5 MB each, or a video up to 512 MB and 140 seconds.
LinkedIn: 3,000 characters, up to 20 images of 8 MB each, or one video.
Threads: 500 characters per post in a thread, up to 10 images of 8 MB each, or an MP4 video up to 1 GB and 5 minutes.
Facebook: 63,206 characters, up to 10 images of 10 MB each, or a video.
Reddit: a title up to 300 characters and a body up to 40,000. Reddit posts from Karrow are text posts, so they can’t carry images or video.
Karrow doesn’t compress files. If an upload is too big, you’ll see a message such as “Too large for X (max 5 MB).” Pick a smaller file and attach it again.
How do I fix a failed post and send it again?
Use Edit & reschedule: it turns the failed post back into a draft so you can change it and schedule it again.
- 1In the failed post’s drawer, click Edit & reschedule. The post goes back to being a draft, drops its old time, and opens in the editor.
- 2Fix what the reason pointed to, or reconnect the channel first if it shows Reconnect needed.
- 3Pick a new date and time and click Schedule, or click Post now and confirm with Publish now?.
A failed post can’t be deleted or dragged to a new day on the calendar as it is. Click Edit & reschedule first. Once it’s a draft, you can move it, schedule it, or delete it.
What does “Won’t post yet” mean?
“Won’t post yet” means Karrow caught a problem before the post was scheduled, so nothing was sent and the post is still a draft.
The message names the problem, then says “Fix it and reschedule.” Examples are “Scheduled time is in the past”, “An attachment is missing (it may have been deleted)”, and, for Reddit, “r/(name) is private”. Other reasons come from the platform’s own rules, such as a post over its length limit.
Only the first problem is shown. If you fix it and see a new message, that’s the next problem on the same post, not a new failure.
If the publication has no account on that platform, you’ll see “Connect X to schedule this post.” instead, with the platform you picked in place of X. Click it to open the publication’s Channels tab with the connect window ready.
On the Free plan, Schedule and Post now open an upgrade window rather than a message. Writing and editing drafts stay free; publishing needs a paid plan.
Why does Karrow warn me before some Reddit posts?
Karrow warns you when a Reddit post is likely to draw Reddit’s spam filter or its moderators, so you can change it before it goes out.
The warning window is titled “Hey, careful with this one!”. It appears when the same text is heading to another subreddit within 24 hours, when you already have a post going to the same subreddit within 48 hours, when the post uses a shortened link, or when Karrow can’t confirm the subreddit exists.
You choose Cancel, Post anyway, or Post another day. These are warnings, not failures: nothing is sent until you pick one.
