Learning from your top posts

Turn what worked into your next batch.

Where do I see my best-performing posts?

Your best-performing posts are in the Top posts list on the Analytics page: open Analytics from the sidebar and scroll down past the charts. It shows up to eight posts from the period you picked, and the publication, channel, and period filters at the top apply to it.

Each row shows the start of the post, its publication, and the numbers the platform reported: engagement rate, impressions, saves, shares, and comments. An arrow at the end of a row means the post has a live link.

Click a post to open its drawer with all its stats and a link to view it on the platform.

How does Karrow decide which posts are top posts?

Karrow ranks top posts by saves, shares, and comments added together. Likes and impressions don’t count toward the ranking.

Saving, sharing, and commenting take more effort than a like, and they depend less on how widely a platform happened to show the post. They are a better sign that the post itself landed.

A hypothetical example: Post A got 40 saves, 12 shares, and 8 comments, a score of 60. Post B got 300 likes, 2 shares, and 5 comments, a score of 7. Post A ranks above Post B, even though Post B got more likes.

Which posts can’t show up?

Reddit posts never appear, because Reddit reports no numbers to Karrow. Posts you published directly on a platform, outside Karrow, aren’t included either.

Only posts published inside the period you picked are listed. A strong post from two months ago shows up in the 90d view, not in 30d.

LinkedIn doesn’t report saves, so a LinkedIn post is ranked on its shares and comments alone. That can put it below an X or Threads post that got a similar response.

A post whose first numbers haven’t arrived yet scores zero and sits at the bottom of the list, or doesn’t make it onto the list, until they do.

Why do Top posts and Top performers show different posts?

They rank by different things: Top posts by saves, shares, and comments, and Top performers by impressions.

The Posts view of Top performers takes the posts from the Top posts list and orders them by impressions, up to six bars. Its Channels and Publications views add up impressions instead. A post that reached a lot of people but drew little response can lead Top performers and sit low in Top posts.

Both are worth reading. Top performers tells you what travelled; Top posts tells you what people acted on.

Read a top post properly

Open the post’s drawer and look at impressions next to saves, shares, and comments. Lots of response from modest impressions means the post itself was strong and few people saw it; lots of impressions with little response means it travelled but didn’t land.

Note the day it went out and the channel. Then click View on X (or the matching link for its platform) to read the comments on the platform itself, since Karrow counts comments but doesn’t show what they say.

Look for the pattern

Ask what your best posts have in common: the kind of opening, the length, the topic, the format, the day they went out. One great post can be luck; three with the same shape is a pattern.

Compare like with like. Pick one channel in the channel filter, so you are comparing LinkedIn posts with LinkedIn posts, and switch to 90d so there are more posts to compare.

Give recent posts a few days before you judge them. Karrow keeps updating a post’s numbers for about 45 days after it goes out, so a post from yesterday will look smaller than it ends up.

Use it next time

Lean into the topics and shapes that worked when you review your next batch.

  1. 1If the shape matches a format in Playbooks, open that playbook and click Save playbook. Saved playbooks are available in compose to steer AI drafts: their structure, in your voice. Saving a playbook needs an active subscription.
  2. 2If something always works on one channel, write it down as a rule in the publication’s Voice tab. Each channel has its own field, and the rules apply to every future draft Karrow writes for that publication.
  3. 3Keep editing drafts toward what worked. Karrow also learns your tone from which drafts you keep, edit, or discard.

A format that worked before is a good bet, not a guarantee. Reach on every platform varies from post to post, so keep testing the pattern instead of posting only one shape.

How often should I review my top posts?

Once a month is enough for most publications: open Analytics on 30d, pick one channel, and read its top three posts.

Write down the one thing they share, then either save the matching playbook or add one line to that channel’s rule in the Voice tab. Next month, check whether posts in that shape stayed near the top. If they didn’t, the pattern was probably luck, and you can remove the rule.
