Images and video per channel

What each platform accepts, and how media carries over when you duplicate.

At a glance

X: up to 4 images per post (5 MB each), or a video up to 140 seconds.

LinkedIn: up to 20 images (8 MB each), or one video.

Threads: up to 10 images or videos per post. Videos must be MP4, up to 5 minutes.

Facebook: up to 10 images (10 MB each), or a video, but not both together.

Reddit: text only, no images or video.

Images can be JPEG, PNG, WebP, or GIF.

How do I add an image or video to a post?

Click Add media (the image icon under the text), then choose Upload image / video to pick a file, or one of the images listed as From this issue. The thumbnail appears under the text straight away.

Media is saved the moment you add it, so you can close the draft and come back without losing an upload. To remove something, hover over the thumbnail and click the bin icon.

On X and Threads, each post in a thread has its own Add media button, so the second post can carry a chart and the fourth a photo. Once a post reaches its platform’s limit, the Add media button disappears.

Can I use the images from my issue?

Yes. Under Add media, every image in the issue you’re drafting from is listed as From this issue, so you can pick one without downloading and re-uploading it.

Issue images are used as they are rather than uploaded again, so Karrow doesn’t size-check them on the way in. The platform’s rules are still checked when you click Schedule or Post now.

The limits apply per post, not per thread. An X thread of five posts can carry up to 20 images in total, as long as no single post has more than 4.

What size images can I post on each channel?

Images can be up to 5 MB each on X, 8 MB on LinkedIn and Threads, and 10 MB on Facebook. Most photos and exported charts fit comfortably; large PNG screenshots are the kind of file that can go over.

If an image is over the limit, saving it as JPEG or exporting it at a smaller size usually brings it under.

How long can a video be?

On X a video can be up to 140 seconds, and on Threads up to 5 minutes. Karrow checks the length of a video when you add it to an X or Threads post.

File size limits for video are 512 MB on X, 1 GB on Threads, 4 GB on Facebook and 5 GB on LinkedIn. X, LinkedIn and Facebook take MP4, MOV, or WebM; Threads takes MP4 only.

For LinkedIn and Facebook, Karrow checks the file size and type when you upload. Any other platform rule is checked when you click Schedule or Post now.

If your browser can’t read a video’s length, the upload still goes ahead, and the length is checked at that same final step instead.

What happens if my file is too large?

Karrow stops the upload and tells you the platform and its limit, for example “Too large for X (max 5 MB).” A video that runs too long gets a similar note with the maximum length in seconds.

Karrow doesn’t compress or convert files for you, so you’ll need to pick a smaller file or export a shorter clip, then add it again.

Before a post goes out, Karrow checks it once more against the platform’s rules. If something still doesn’t fit, the post isn’t scheduled and you see what to fix.

What if an attachment goes missing?

If a file attached to a draft has been deleted since you added it, Karrow won’t publish the post without it. Scheduling stops with “An attachment is missing (it may have been deleted)”, so remove the attachment that no longer shows, add the file again, and schedule once more.

Your issue’s image

When Karrow drafts from an issue, it attaches the issue’s lead image automatically. You can remove it or add your own.

The lead image is the first image in your issue. On a thread it goes on the first post only. Reddit drafts never get one, because Karrow’s Reddit posts are text only.

When you duplicate

Duplicate to carries your media across to the new channel, keeping only what that platform accepts, up to its limit. Check the copy before you schedule it.

All of the media lands on the first post of the copy, even if it was spread across a thread in the original. To move an image to a later post, remove it from the first post and add it again on the post where you want it.

Can I post images to Reddit?

No. Karrow’s Reddit posts are text posts: a title and a body, with no images or video. On Reddit, adding an image would turn the post into a different kind of post, so the editor doesn’t offer media for Reddit at all.

If an image matters to the point, describe what it shows in the body, or link to the issue where it appears in your First comment.
