Writing a post by hand

Skip the AI: write your own post, for one channel or several at once.

Can I use Karrow without AI?

Yes: you can write every post yourself, and hand-written posts never count towards the daily AI draft limit. Scheduling, the first comment, and the per-channel settings work the same way as for AI drafts.

Hand-written posts show the label From scratch, so you can tell them apart from AI drafts on a board. Regenerate never replaces them.

Start a post

  1. 1Click New post.
  2. 2Leave the issue panel empty. The room shows “Write a post”.
  3. 3Pick one or more channels, then click Start writing (or Write N posts for several).

Working from an issue but want to write yourself? Pick the issue, then choose Write by hand instead of drafting with AI. On an issue that already has drafts, use Add channel, pick the channel, then Write by hand.

One tab per channel

Each channel gets its own draft, shown as tabs above the editor, so you can tailor the wording for each platform. Click Add channel to bring in another one: it starts from what you’ve already written, including your images and first comment.

After that, each tab is its own post. Changing the X tab doesn’t change the LinkedIn tab. A channel choice like the subreddit or LinkedIn Page isn’t copied either, because it means nothing on another platform.

Want Karrow to adapt the wording for you? Click Duplicate to and pick a platform. That rewrite uses AI and counts as one draft towards your daily limit.

Started without an issue and want one beside you after all? Pick it in the issue search on the left. Karrow attaches it to the drafts you have open, so you keep what you’ve written and can read the issue while you finish.

How long can each post be?

Each channel has its own limit, and the counter under the text box shows where you are: X allows 280 characters per post, Threads 500, LinkedIn 3,000, Facebook 63,206, and Reddit 300 for the title and 40,000 for the body.

On X, the counter follows X’s own counting: every link counts as 23 characters however long it is, and emoji count as 2. Go over and the counter turns red and says how far over you are, for example “312/280 (32 over)”. Trim it, or turn it into a thread.

Platform-specific fields

X and Threads posts can become threads with Add post. Each post in a thread has its own counter and its own images, and you can remove any post except the last one left.

Reddit posts have a title (up to 300 characters) and a body, and need a subreddit. Pick one under Choose a subreddit, or tap the button to use your account default. Some subreddits require a flair, so set one when the Flair picker appears. Mark as NSFW tags the post 18+.

LinkedIn lets you post as yourself or a Page: the Post as picker appears when you manage a Page. Facebook shows a Post to Page picker when you manage more than one Page. These show up in the editor for the channel you’re on.

If you’ve connected more than one account on the same channel, pick which one this post goes from.

Can I add images to a post?

Yes, on every channel except Reddit: click the image button under the text to upload an image or video, or pick an image from the issue you attached. Each issue image appears in that menu as “From this issue”.

Limits per post: X takes up to 4 images of 5 MB each, and videos up to 140 seconds. Threads takes up to 10 images of 8 MB, and MP4 videos up to 5 minutes. LinkedIn takes up to 20 images of 8 MB. Facebook takes up to 10 images of 10 MB. Images can be JPEG, PNG, WebP, or GIF. Karrow checks a file before uploading it and tells you if it’s too big or too long.

Reddit takes no images here, because adding one would turn a Reddit text post into a link post.

Tailor the wording for each channel

Writing the same post for several channels works best when each tab reads like it belongs there. Say you run a weekly finance newsletter and want to share one chart. On X, lead with the number in one short line and add the context as a second post. On LinkedIn, open with the same number, then give two or three short paragraphs on why it matters. On Reddit, use a plain title that states the finding and a body that asks what others make of it.

This is advice, not a rule. What works on each platform changes, and your own audience matters more than any general pattern.

Where do my hand-written drafts go?

They stay as drafts until you schedule them, and you can find them later in Posts, in the Unscheduled drafts tray, where you can drag one onto a day to schedule it. Drafts started from an issue also appear on that issue’s board.

To get rid of one, click the bin next to Duplicate to and confirm “Delete this draft?”. Only drafts can be deleted this way; a scheduled post has to be cancelled from Posts first.
